2008 Annual General Meeting/Spring Weekend
This year on 16th May to 18th May the AOUG AGM and Spring weekend meeting was held in Ballincollig, County Cork, Ireland and took place at the Oriel House Hotel, Ballincollig Leisure Club and Spa.
The weekend commenced on Friday afternoon when a group of members and their families attended an organised visit to the University of Cork. This University was established in 1945 and members found the visit very interesting and informative.
Friday evening Matt Reville the regional representative for Ireland was host to a quiz.
Members were challenged as to their knowledge, and Matt's scoring system was to be admired.
Saturday was the business of the weekend when the 2008 AGM (further information can be read in the Summer OMEGA) was held, followed by a meeting of the Executive Committee.
The highlight of the weekend was the Gala Dinner which included guests Deputy Mayor and Mayoress of Ballincollig (Councillor Derry Canty and his wife Noreen) together with a guest speaker Dr W Reville of University College Cork. Dr Reville offered a thought provoking lecture on the changing environment. Read more details in the summer OMEGA.
Sunday enabled guests to travel into the city of Cork or enjoy a swim followed by lunch at the hotel.
All in all a lovely weekend and the best way to mix business with pleasure.
