Welcome to AOUG in the North (09)
Hello, all AOUG members and new graduates of the Association and a warm welcome to you. I’m Jean your elected Executive Representative for Region 09, a committed member since 2006 when I attained an Open University degree in Humanities with History. I have approached my role with a willingness to accommodate all that is good about our Region and to embrace the work of the AOUG in supporting its members. Since, my Term in Office there has been opportunities to engage with members in planned events such as, historical visits, lectures and musical entertainment. Also, I would appreciate suggestions for future events from members in order to accommodate different interests.
I should now say something about myself well. I am a retired nurse who returned to nursing later in life and acquired a Specialist nurse qualification after attaining a first degree at a local University. I have a firm belief in continuous education and self-improvement and maintain my interests by being self-employed as a Tutor/Assessor for a Company that deals with distance learning; continue to participate in health and lifestyle issues when time allows as a voluntary member of various local groups in Hartlepool. Also, I am a governor with the NEAS Foundation Trust elected for a second Term of Office and at a special school in which opportunities arise to influence change within the local community.
I would greatly appreciate any feedback from AOUG members who share similar interests and would like to take any issues forward for consideration so that a working group can be formed to discuss for instance, health and lifestyle issues. Also, there are opportunities to join historical societies as I am a member of the Friends of the Trincomalee, a historical ship based in Hartlepool, which is the second oldest floating warship.
