2018 Diary Dates

Tuesday 14th August. 2pm
Meet at the entrance to Ormesby Hall, Ladgate Lane, Ormesby, Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire TS3 0SR for a Handshake event with Region 09, to visit this 18th Century mansion house built in the Palladian style and completed in 1754. It was once the home of the Pennyman family, who acquired the Manor of Ormesby from the Conyers/Strangeways family around 1600. Uncover the family’s stories from the Baronetcy bestowed on Sir James Pennyman by Charles II to Colonel Jim, survivor of the First World War, and the theatrical exploits of his wife Ruth. Then experience the life of a Victorian servant and explore the Laundry and Kitchen and finally, take a relaxing break and enjoy a cream tea.

Meet for coffee in the Courtyard Cafe , just below the Adventure Playground, Harewood House, Harrogate Roar, LS17 9LG (A61), prior to enjoying the magnificent house. Bus No 36 from Leeds Bus Station. Meet for coffee in the Cafeteria of  Square Chapel Arts Centre, Halifax, HX1 1QG (opp. Halifax Rail Station) prior to choosing to visit the unique Piece Hall, Calderdale Industrial Museum, Eureka Children’s Museum or Halifax Minster. They are all very close together.                                              

Saturday 1st December. 12noon                                                                                        
Meet in café at Leeds Playhouse, Playhouse Square, Quarry Hill, Leeds, LS2 7UP for a festive lunch (Remember your Christmas jumper!) followed by a matinee performance of ‘Christmas Carol’ at 2pm. Advertised for seven year old and upwards. Walking Group

The group organises walk of varying lengths and to suit varying abilities and new participants are always welcome. Please contact the Walking Group organisers and she can advise you about the length or difficulty of each walk.

10th, 11th and 12th August - Hawnby, N. Yorks.

31st August, 1st and 2nd September - Sedbergh, Cumbria.
